We’ll share all the details, but if this is TLDR, the skinny is that the cruise itinerary is excellent, the destinations are amazing, the cabins are adequate, the food experience was sub par. Because we were off the ship at port during the day, it was very helpful to have a gym open 24 hours to squeeze in a few workouts so I could still squeeze into my stretchy buffet cruise pants. The fitness center is by far the largest we’ve ever seen on a cruise ship. It was also one of the most sparsely populated areas of the ship. In addition to the fitness center, water aerobics was offered at the pool. The Pride of America has many stateroom options, from a studio that’s designed for the solo traveler, balcony rooms and for the posh experience, suites. While a limited number of staterooms can accommodate up to eight people, most comfortably accommodate two people. Pride of America has three swimming pools, a kid’s pool and six hot tubs. There’s also an Entourage Teen Club, Splash Academy Youth Center and Video Arcade to keep the kids occupied. We spent mornings outside sipping on coffee and evenings gazing at the stars cheers-ing with our BYO champagne and rosé. We were impressed with our Oceanview Balcony stateroom complete with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to a private balcony. I wiped off the little desk/vanity shelf to remove some powder I had dropped and a lot more dirt and gunk came off than just the powder I spilled. Overall, the cleanliness of the room wasn’t horrible, but still left me questioning how much the room actually gets cleaned in between guests.

If your vacation at sea has you craving sushi, hit the sushi and sashimi bar on deck 5, in the same area as East Meets West and Teppanyaki. While this small bar and dining area is separate from East Meets West, you can also request the sushi menu while dining at East Meets West (which I’d recommend if you want to order off both menus). Sit at the bar though if you want to watch the talented chefs prepare your rolls. I’d strongly suggest eating breakfast and dinner at one of the sit-down restaurants if you can spare the time. There were some real standouts (the made-to-order pasta, crepe station at dinner and the warm puddings are not to be missed), but I didn’t find the selection or quality of the food as good as I’ve experienced on other NCL ships.

The Hawaiian Islands tempt you to disembark the ship every single day! I highly recommend taking island adventures by booking Shore Excursions. The staff delivers a “Freestyle Daily” to your cabin every night with information for the following day.
